Flight Instructor
My journey in aviation did not start like most others. I did not grow up with parents who were pilots or with childhood dreams of becoming one. Instead, I found my calling a little later in life. Throughout high school and college, I struggled to find purpose and never really knew what I wanted to do with my life after college. This led me to start a career in finance, a career that did not fulfill my dreams. One day, after realizing the lack of fulfillment, my older brother gave me a piece of advice that changed my outlook on life. My brother, who was, and still is a helicopter pilot for the Army, told me to take a discovery flight and just see if I liked flying. That is the day I fell in love with aviation and never looked back. Aviation gave me a new purpose.
Early in my aviation journey, I did not ever think that I would become an instructor. However, the more I flew with friends and other students, the more I found myself enjoying helping them become better pilots. As my passion and experience grew, I knew that I was on the right path to becoming an instructor and helping others find the beauty in aviation. Being an instructor, and watching people achieve their dreams, is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done. Along the journey, I get to help students push themselves to new heights while developing discipline, competency, and good aeronautical decision-making skills.
I treat every student like a blank canvas. Flight instruction is not a one size fits all approach, so each student’s instruction is individually tailored to them, while maintaining structure and the utmost adherence to safety. Utilizing this personalized approach, along with training in real-world environments, students build confidence and gain valuable experience that will stay with them long after passing their checkrides. There will be ups and downs throughout training, but students will leave the airport each day a more competent, and safer pilot than when they showed up. Aside from aviation, students will also learn valuable skills and lessons that directly translate to other aspects of their lives.
